Yoga guru Baba Ramdev today extended support to the demand of Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP from Nizamabad, K Kavitha for setting up a National Turmeric Board for the benefit of farmers.
"Kavithaji has taken a big initiative for National Turmeric Board.. I have written a letter to the Prime Minister (in support)," Baba Ramdev told reporters at Nizamabad.
He said he would take part in any agitation held in New Delhi in support of the demand for constitution of the board.
"It (board) is necessary for (ensuring) justice to farmers," Ramdev said.
Favouring stoppage of the import of turmeric, he said the Centre should consider its export.
Kavitha, who was present on the occasion, said the demand for setting up the Turmeric Board has been pending for the last 30 years.
She urged Ramdev's Patanjali group to do whatever possible for the benefit of farmers.
