Teachers of Delhi University's Ramjas College launched an indefinite sit-in on the campus today to protest against a delay in salary disbursal for the second consecutive month.
"The disbursal of salaries for July has been delayed without any notice. Last month too, it was delayed for eight days," Professor of Statistics S K Jha said, adding t hat the
non-teaching staff too would join the protest.

"Usually, the salaries are credited to our respective bank accounts on the 1st of every month," Jha said.
Principal P C Tulsian attributed the delay to the University Grants Commission's inability to release funds on time.
"We have not received funds from the UGC...We are trying our level best to get the funds from the UGC. The commission has not given any reason yet for the delay," Tulsian said.
In 2012, a similar issue arose forcing a section of teachers of the college on the university's North Campus to stage protests demanding a timely disbursal of salaries.
