Title favourites ONGC made a slow start before picking up pace to outclass Indian Air Force 72-52 and enter the men's final of the 28th Ramu Memorial basketball tournament at the Indian Gymkhana here today.

ONGC, who trailed the airmen 4-14 at the end of the first quarter, stepped on the pedal and finally ended up comfortable 72-52 winners in the semi final contest after restricting IAF to just 24 points in the second and third quarters.

ONGC await the winners of the second semi final between Punjab and Indian Overseas Bank in the title contest to be held tomorrow.

It was a difficult task to score against the star-studded ONGC as Murli Krishna and Yadwinder Singh were too good in defence.

ONGC's sharp-shooter Vishesh Brigbhuvanshi tallied 27 points, Yadwinder got 18, Mohit Bhandari scored 10 and Murali Krishna had 17.

A Narender topped for IAF with 15 points while Joginder Singh and S Shivraj contributed 14 points each.

The women's final, also to be held tomorrow, would see Southern Railway clash with Chhattisgarh.
