Rana set for his 3rd Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm title

Team Maruti's Suresh Rana was today headed towards his third title as he enjoyed a comfortable lead over other drivers at the end of the fourth leg in the 11th Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm here today.
Rana started the day with over 15 minutes lead and extended his good run in the rally showing great perseverance on a 142 km long return leg from Jaisalmer.
Rana was followed by Chandigarh's Sunny Sidhu who is 24 mins 32 secs behind the leader, according to the provisional results.
Mahindra and Mahindra driver Lohitt Urs was in third position at the end of the fourth leg of the Xtreme category.
 
The rally passed through towns like Nokhra, Kanji Ki Sird, Pabusar, Lakhsar and Pilap near Bikaner.
In other categories, local speed demon Raj Singh Rathore has taken an unassailable lead in the motor quad category as he has an hour and seven minutes lead over his nearest competitor Vijay Parmar. He was followed by his fellow Team Polaris' rallyist Brandon.
"This is my second race with Team Polaris and my first with this vehicle on desert. I have been able to touch the vehicle's top speed of 106km regularly on this track," Rathore, who is riding Polaris RZR 800, said.
Sanjay Takale of Team Maruti is leading by 24 seconds over Satish Gopalkrishnan in the rally Xplore. At the third place is Rajesh Chalana. Gopalkrishnan leads Team Maruti's Chalana by 1.52 minutes.
