Ranchi Rays came from two goals down to secure a hard-fought draw against Dabang Mumbai in their Hockey India League (HIL) match here this evening.

It was the visitors who began strongly at the Birsa Munda stadium here and had taken a 2-0 lead by the 15th minute.

The early pressure on the Ranchi goal paid off for Dabang Mumbai as first Glen Turner in the 12th and then Santa Singh in the 15th minute both scored field goals to put the visitors 2-0 ahead.

However, the hosts managed to pull one back the very next minute as Daniel Beale capitalised on a fabulous move to reduce the deficit through a field goal.

The first half ended with Ranchi trailing Mumbai by a goal and it was the home team which then came out with greater vigour after the breather as it pushed for an equaliser.

The goal that tied the match came in the 37th minute off a penalty corner which was converted by Ranchi Rays skipper Ashley Jackson, sending the spectators wild with joy.

Today's outing was the Rays' fourth and they now have nine points to be second on the HIL table behind Jaypee Punjab Warriors.

Jackson won the the Man of the Match award.
