Rangasamy pays homage at statue of Indira Gandhi

: Chief Minister N Rangasamy led the Union Territory in paying homage at the statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 31st death anniversary today.

Speaker V Sabapathy, Ministers, legislators, officials, freedom fighters and delegates of various organisations also paid floral tributes at the statue of the leader.

Leaders of Hindu, Islam and Christian religions read out excerpts from their respective religious books.

Devotional songs were presented by a team of teachers and students of government run Jawahar Bal Bhavan at the venue.

All present observed silence for a couple of minutes.

A delegation of the opposition Congress, led by PCC leader A Namassivayam MLA and comprising AICC General Secretary and former Union Minister V Narayanasamy, legislators and delegates of different wings of the party garlanded the statue.
 

Earlier the PCC leader paid floral tributes at the portrait of Indira Gandhi on the premises of the PCC office.
