Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Tarun Joshi told PTI that Shankar Rao had sent a complaint to Saifabad ACP office to be registered under the under SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act.
He has alleged that he was deliberately not permitted entry into the media room at the office of the Congress Legislature Party (on the Assembly premises) yesterday.
Alleging that it's (preventing his entry) an insult to him, Shankar Rao has sought for action against the CLP leader and its members under SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act, the DCP said adding, "Rao has not named anyone...But has only sought action against the CLP leaders and its members".
"We are studying the matter and are taking legal opinion before taking the next step," Joshi said.
Rao, a MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment, who was Handlooms and Textiles Minister before he was dropped from the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet in January this year, has been repeatedly taking on the state government by making allegations against the Chief Minister and some of the Cabinet colleagues.
The CLP has recently discussed Health minister DL Ravindra Reddy and Shankar Rao criticising the government and the Chief Minister frequently from its office and directed all its members to obtain prior permission from the CLP secretary to address the media.
Rao had yesterday staged a demonstration outside the CLP office to protest against the "denial of access to the media room" after it was kept locked.
