Chandrasekhar Rao congratulates Yechury on appointment as CPI(M) chief

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today congratulated Sitaram Yechury, who succeeded Prakash Karat as party chief, on his election as General Secretary of CPI(M).

Rao telephoned Yechury and wished that he be successful in his new responsibility and lead Communist Party of India (Marxist) as a responsible Opposition, a release from his office said.

Yechury, 62, a prominent voice of the Left in Parliament, was unanimously elected to the powerful post of general secretary of CPI-M during the party's 21st congress which concluded in Visakhapatnam yesterday.
