The special court, which was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir on Sunday here, delivered its first verdict today.

The case pertains to alleged rape of a woman belonging to the SC/ST community in 2004.

The first accused had been acquitted earlier. The trial against the second accused, Manoj, who had allegedly raped the victim in a lodge, was completed yesterday and was posted for pronouncing the judgement.

The victim, who is now married and has two children, however, turned hostile.

At least 30 cases from various trial courts have been sent to the special court.
