Rape accused sentenced to ten years in jail

The special fast-track court here today sentenced a rape accused to ten years' rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.

Boda Ganesh (19), a resident of Pegadapalli village in Maha Mutharam mandal, was accused of raping a 15 years old girl after promising to marry her, said the special public prosecutor K V Venugopal Rao.

When the girl became pregnant, he refused to marry her, so she lodged a complaint.

The judge M Krishna Murthy today held Ganesh guilty for rape under section 376 of IPC and sentenced him to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000.
 

The court also awarded him five years' prison term for the offence of cheating, plus a fine of Rs 5,000. Both the sentences shall run concurrently.
