Khakh said that Sunu, aged around 15, worked as a servant in the shop of the victim's father in local Khalwaragate mohalla.
"The shopkeeper and his wife had gone out of their house, leaving behind their ten-year-old son and six-year-old daughter. Taking advantage of the situation, Sonu attempted to rape the girl on Wednesday," Phagwara SP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said.
He added that the girl was hospitalised and her medical examination was conducted.
