Concerned over the plight of an 18-month old rape victim, a city court today asked a forensic science laboratory (FSL) here to expedite the process of analysing the samples in the 2015 case.

Additional Sessions Judge Raghubir Singh passed the direction while hearing the case in which a toddler was sexually assaulted by one Ram Preet last year in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area.

"Let a request letter be sent to the Director, FSL to expedite the analysis as the victim in this case is merely one-and-a-half-year old," the judge said.

The court has framed charge against the accused for the offence under section 6 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

It had earlier granted interim compensation of Rs 50,000 to the child for her rehabilitation.

The accused has claimed that he had not committed any wrong with the child and no case was made out against him.
