The father of a gang rape victim today withdrew his petition seeking a CBI probe from the Gujarat High Court after the police authorities addressed his
grievances.
Justice R P Dholaria allowed the petition to be withdrawn, with a liberty to revive the demand of a CBI probe later, if needed.
The petitioner's daughter was allegedly gang raped inside a moving SUV in March this year.
He had sought transfer of the probe to the CBI or any other competent investigating agency, alleging that a police officer had threatened his daughter and tried to force her to change her complaint.
Also, the victim's statement was not recorded before a magistrate within 24 hours as required under the Supreme Court guidelines, the petitioner said.
After the petition was filed, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) J K Bhatt, about whom the victim had expressed reservations, was taken out of the probe.

In his place, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shweta Shrimali, a woman officer, was asked to join the probe.
The government pleader also told the court today that the magistrate had a issued summons to the victim to record her statement.
With the petitioner's grievances addressed, his lawyer Dakshesh Mehta sought the high court's permission to withdraw the petition.
In her complaint lodged with Satellite police station in Ahmedabad last week, the woman had claimed that four unidentified persons, who were wearing masks, abducted her from the Nehrunagar area of the city in March this year.
Two of them raped her in the moving SUV and filmed the act to blackmail her, she alleged.
Police booked seven persons, including two girls and the boyfriend of the woman, in connection with the case.
