Doctors at a private hospital have successfully performed a rare surgery on a 61-year-old patient from Bihar with a blocked blood vessel in the heart.
Mohammad Saifi, hailing from Gaya in Bihar, has added more years to his life after doctors at the Metro Hospital here conducted Retrograde Angioplasty to remove blocks known as Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) from the heart vessel called left anterior descending (LAD).
As per Retrograde Angioplasty procedure, the block is approached and crossed from reverse direction against the direction of blood flow from another vessel supplying blood to heart through thread like tortuous connections between these two vessels.
