Bamboo flowering in Tali and Pipsorang circles has multiplied the growth of the rodent population which survives on paddy, millet, wheat and maize, official sources said today.

While drawing attention of the state government, Tali Pastoral Range Committee chairman, Tamuk Tame, sought steps to check the rat menace and compensation for farmers.

Bamboo flowering occurs in a cycle and is reported from different parts of the North Eastern region from time to time.

The last such phenomenon was reported from several villages in Chayang Tajo and Sawa circles of East Kameng a year ago.
