Ratan Tata receives 18th MMA Biz Leadership Award

Tata Sons' Chairman-Emeritus Ratan Tata was today awarded the 18th Madras Management Amalgamations Business Leadership Award 2014.

The award instituted in memory of noted industrialist and Founder Chairman, Amalgamations, S Anantharamakrishnan, was presented to Tata by Amalgamations Group Chairman A Krishnamoorthy at a function here.

Several industrialists had been selected for the MMA Amalgamations Business Leadership Award presented since 1969 in memory of Anantharamakrishnan, also founder and past-president of Madras Management Association.

Some of the past recipients of the award include J R D Tata (1969), Arvind N Mafatlal (1971), Aditya V Birla (1990), C Rangarajan (1996), Sunil Bharti Mittal (2008).
 

In his felicitations, Hinduja Group, Executive Vice- Chairman Seshasayee praised Tata and quoted the famous saying of Mahatma Gandhi, "Be the Change, you want to see in the world" and said it was "truly played" by Tata.

The Award jury comprised HSBC Bank India's Naina Lal Kidwai, Tata Consultancy Services Vice Chairman S Ramadorai, Seshasayee and Bharti Enterprises Chairman and Group CEO, Sunil B Mittal.

TAFE Group Chairperson Mallika Srinivasan in her felicitations said the Tata Group grew 20 times in 20 years under the stewardship of Ratan Tata.

"Tata Group's revenue generated outside India under the leadership of Tata grew by 60 per cent," she said.

Krishnamoorthy presented the award comprising a citation and memento to Tata on the occasion.
