Terming the religious and cultural practices during lunar eclipse as merely myths, rationalists here organised a moon viewing session and ate under the eclipsed moon.

Temples had closed down during the eclipse yesterday.

Lunar eclipse is considered to be an inauspicious occasion and devotees are asked to spend the hours by meditating, praying and fasting.

Federation of Indian Rationalists Associations president Narendra Nayak said all the beliefs associated with lunar eclipse were merely myths propagated by astrologers and authorities of temples.
