Rationing officer arrested while taking bribe

The Thane unit of anti-corruption bureau today arrested a rationing officer while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh.

He was identified as Vilas Sose (41), who is attached to Mumbai office of rationing department.

Inspector Anil Honrao of Thane ACB said Sose had demanded the bribe for not taking action against a ration shop owner.

ACB, after receiving complaint, laid a trap at a coffee shop at a mall here today and nabbed Sose while taking the money.

He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
