Some students in the Ravenshaw University campus here today staged a dharna in front of the office of the Vice Chancellor by burning tyres and demanding action against the culprits triggering a group clash on Tuesday night during a Ganesh idol immersion procession.

Things took an ugly turn when some masked youths coming in a motorcycle, damaged Vice Chancellor P K Sarangi's car parked outside his office.

"The youths have not been identified yet as they had covered their faces and escaped immediately after pelting stones at the car," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Trinath Mishra.

The University authorities were now having a second thought over conducting the students' union election scheduled on October 14.

"Although notification for the election has not been issued yet, we will wait and watch the situation before deciding on it," the VC added.
