Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family of two sisters who died in an attack by a leopard in Tharali area of Chamoli district here.
The Chief Minister has expressed condolences on the death of the two sisters - Lakshmi (14) and Kavita (9) - and ordered forest department to release compensation of Rs 1 lakh each, the CM's media adviser Surendra Kumar said.
The compensation money would be given from the Chief Minister Discretionary Fund.

Rawat has also asked the forest department to constitute a team to nab the leopard, he said.
The two sisters were attacked by the leopard on Wednesday night when they had gone out to relieve themselves.
