Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today asked the National Skill Development Corporation to deploy efficient master trainers in the state to impart better training to the youth.
Making the request to NSDC Chairman S Ramadorai who called on him at his residence here, Rawat said the Centre's skill development scheme should be tailored to suit the needs of hill states.
At the time of UPA there were plans to set up Regional Skill Development Training Centres in states. The Centre should open such centres now, an official release quoting the Chief Minister said.
Assuring Rawat of all help from the NSDC, Ramadorai said there are more opportunities for self-employment in the agro- forest, medical tourism, ayurveda, yoga, MSME and tourism sectors in Uttarakhand in which skill development training can be given to youths.
He also asked the state government to send maximum number of proposals to the Centre under the Prime Minister Skill Development Programme.
NSDC will send a team of experts to inspect ITIs, Polytechnic and Commercial colleges of Uttarakhand which will help it tailor its skill development programmes in accordance with the requirements of hill states, Ramdorai said.
About his meeting with Gadkari, Rawat said he has proposed
15 new National Highways for which in-principal approval has been granted by the union minister.
"We have proposed 15 more new NH. They will be interconnecting NH...In-principal approval has been granted to them by the minister. Wherever elevated road are required, it would also be considered," he said.
Rawat said he has also requested to Gadkari to take measures to make the roads more safer in the state like putting up barriers at the corners of the roads.
He said Gadkari has asked the state to arrange Rs 50 crore for the purpose and assured the same amount to be provided by the Centre.
"I thank Union Minister no matter he has assured to provide us money from our road safety funds. He has asked us to arrange for Rs 50 crore and the same amount would be given by the Centre," he said.
