Rawat exhorts trade leaders for investment in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has exhorted industrialists to utilise the state government's new policies on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), and hydroelectricity.

The Chief Minister in a meeting with representatives of Trade authorities and Trade Unions last night at his home called for increase in investments and invited suggestions to this effect, an official statement said today.

The MSME policy has been prepared according to the needs of local industrialists, the CM said, adding that it needs to be implemented to check the migration of workers from the hilly regions.

The MSME plays a major role in boosting the economy of any state, Rawat said, even as he instructed that all ailing industries in Uttarakhand be brought under the supervision of State Infrastructure & Industrial Development Corporation Limited (SIDCUL).
 

The CM said senior officials in the administration should once in month hold meetings with trade leaders and industrialists and sort out their work related problems on priority level and instructed them to facilitate it under MSME policies, according to the statement.

In this regard, the system of subsidy provided to businessmen would be made simpler and easier and the amount would be transferred direct into their bank accounts, it said.

The CM also called for the setting up of a dedicated department that provide investment information on Herbal, Pharmacy, Information Technology, Hydero-energy sectors.

The Uttarakhand government also assured "full cooperation" to investments made in education sector in the hill state.

The state was making attempts to provide employment to all sections of people in the state, including in rural areas, the official statement added.
