Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing a new modern all-weather road in the state for the 'chardham' yatra.
Modi had yesterday said that his government believed in "turning any crisis into opportunity" while referring to Kedarnath tragedy and added that a new modern all-weather road was on the anvil for the 'chardhams' and Uttarakhand was bound to witness unprecedented development.
The PM was speaking on the sidelines of a foundation stone-lying ceremony of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway to be built at cost of Rs 7,566 crore that includes construction of 28-km long 14-lane Delhi-Dasna section.
In a statement released here, Rawat said, "Even though the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is an advantage for Uttar Pradesh, but Uttarakhand was also benefited with the announcement."
While thanking Modi for the announcement, Rawat also urged the PM to initiate developmental works towards the state's national highways.

Speaking at a programme on the occasion of Labour Day at the Congress headquarters here, Rawat alleged that since the formation of the BJP government at the Centre, the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo have been "attempting" to "bring down" democratically- elected government in non-BJP-ruled states.
Ever since Modi government came to power, it has been "neglecting" Uttarakhand, and when it failed to bring down the state regime by "money or muscle power," it "resorted to President's rule" to dislodge it, he further alleged.
The Modi-Shah duo have been "conspiring" to "systematically bring down" governments in states where BJP is not in power, he said.
The deposed chief minister claimed Congress has always worked in favour of labourers while the Centre has meted out "step-motherly treatment" to the Uttarakhand government in release of funds for various projects.
