Ray's favourite actor Dhritiman Chatterjee feels that art-conscious Bengali, cuisine and cinema go hand in hand.
Having initiated the 'Food in Cinema' concept along with other friends in a film-themed restaurant, the 'Seemabaddha' actor told PTI today, "Food plays an important role in both literary works and films."
"While food is described in literature, in films you can see the texture and the colours and smell the aroma. Remember Goopey Gyne Bagha Byne," Dhritiman said.

Having given creative inputs for the cinema-themed Silver Screen Asia adorned with posters of Pulp Fiction to Ratatouille, from 'The Lunchbox' to 'Sare Chuattor', Dhritiman said, "The more those from film fraternity come forward to initiate such food-fusion ventures, the better."
Dhritiman, set to portray a veteran Bomkesh Bakshi in the 70's era period thriller 'Sajarur Kanta', said he was keen to see the people's response to his twin avatars - playing a effervescent sleuth known to be of much younger age and as stake-holder in a restaurant, themed on the over 100-year old Indian cinema.
"The place can rekindle interest about cinema," cult 'Bhooter Bhabisyot' director Anik Dutta said.
"Silver Screen Asia is an informal bistro serving contemporary Asian cuisine in a cinematic setting and we all know art-loving Kolkatans are always open to experimentation. Happy to get Dhritimanda on board," Anirban Sengupta of the flagship chain said.
