Raymond and West Bengal govt sign MoU

The agreement is for setting up two centres in the state where youth would be imparted skills in customised tailoring

Leading garment and apparel maker Raymond Limited today signed an MoU with the West Bengal government for setting two centres for imparting skills training programme in customised tailoring.

"We have signed an MoU with Raymond for setting up two centres in the state where youth would be imparted skills in customised tailoring," principal secretary with the technical education and training department Hridyesh Mohan said.

He told reporters that Raymond would set up to centres at Mominpur here and Domjur in Howrah and the associated infrastructure required for the imparting the programme.

The state government would bear the training cost, he said.
 

To start with Raymond would train 6800 youth from the underprivileged and minority background, Ram Bhatnagar, VP and Head (sales and distribution) of Raymond said.

Mohan said that the state government had drawn up plans to train two lakh youth in skill development over the next three years in varied fields.

The government had already initiated talks with Samsung for advance electronics, IL&FS Skills for services and Berger for painting.

Bhatnagar said the training programme was a part of Raymond's CSR initiative.

The company had started a similar centre in Patna.

"Plans are there to penetrate in Tier II and Tier III cities," he said.
