Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a massive 213-2 against Gujarat Lions in their Indian Premier League match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, here today.

Invited to bat, RCB rode on the 76-ball 122-run opening partnership between Chris Gayle (77) and Virat Kohli (64) to post their biggest total of the season.

Gayle's 38-ball 77-run innings was studded with five boundaries and seven sixes, while Kohli blasted seven fours and one six in his 50-ball innings.

Travis Head (30) and Kedar Jadhav (38) then provided the late charge to take RCB across the 200-mark. While Jadhav cracked five fours and two sixes, Head hit two fours and a six in his innings.

For Gujarat, Basil Thampi (1/31) and Dhawal Kulkarni (1/37) took one wicket each.

Earlier, just hours before the game, AB de Villiers announced on Twitter that he would not be playing because of his shoulder injury. Amuel Badree was also out with niggles and Chris Gayle and Travis Head replaced the duo in the playing XI.

RCB has been languishing at the bottom of the IPL points table this season with just one win and four defeats in five games so far.
