RCF, Southern Samitee move into quarters

Railway Coach Factory (RCF), Kapoorthala and Southern Samitee, Kolkata moved into the quarterfinals of the 2nd All India Jananayak Karpoori Thakur Football Tournament played here at Moinul Haq Stadium today.

In the first match, Southern Samitee defeated Madhya Pradesh United Football Club 3-1 while in the second one, RCF, Kapoorthala blanked Indian Air Force 3-0.

The Kolkata team went into the lead in the 11th minute through striker Basila who dodged past two defenders to find the target.

After the lemon break, MP United FC regrouped and came back strongly to restore parity with Avinash Kale netting in the 55th minute.
 

Nineteen minutes later, Southern Samitee's Tanmoy Paul's brilliant effort earned them the second goal while Bajemo sealed the match with a 3-1 with a injury time goal.

RCF, Kapoorthala in their match against Indian Air Force took the lead in the 30th minute with Prabhojit Singh, while Maninder Singh and Ajay Kumar scored apiece in the 56th and 74th minute respectively in the one-sided match.
