'Re-align youth to forefront of current needs, devlpts'

Professional societies, scientific bodies and academic institutes have to re-align youth to the forefront of current needs and developments to create a huge impact on Science and Technology and to promote highest standard of engineering education and practises, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister, said here today.

He was speaking after receiving the prestigious 'IEI-IEEE Award for Engineering Excellence-2015' at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of IEEE Asia-Pacific Region here.

"To create a significant impact on India's Science and Technology and to promote highest standard of engineering education and practises, professional societies, scientific bodies and academic institutes have to re-align the young force of the country towards the forefronts of current needs and developments," said Reddy, also Director General, Missiles and Strategic Systems, DRDO.
 

Stating that the award was a true tribute to the efforts of each and every team member of DRDO, he said India is steadfastly marching towards complete self reliance in Missile Systems and technologies.

An ISRO press release said Dr Reddy's pioneering work in Navigation and Avionics technologies has been integral in the success of several defence projects, making India self-reliant in many vital areas.

Dr Reddy received the award fromISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar in the presence of Dr Barry L Shoop, President, IEEE USA and many other eminent luminaries from India and abroad, the release said.
