A rift has surfaced in the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV), formed by Yogi Adityanath in 2002, with its former leader Sunil Singh creating a splinter outfit of the same name and declaring himself its national president.

However, the Vahini's state general secretary P K Mall said that HVY has nothing to do with Singh's group, as he along with some others were removed from the outfit by chief patron Adityanath on January 30, 2017, on charges of indiscipline.

Singh claimed that he recently held a meeting with senior HYV leaders and was unanimously elected the national president of the outfit, and he was carrying forward the agenda of his "guru" Adityanath.

Refuting the claim, Mall said, "No member of the Hindu Yuva Vahini attended the so-called meeting in Lucknow last week. Those expelled by chief patron Yogi Adityanathji on the charge of indiscipline are creating confusion."

Singh even claimed that his organisation is the original one, adding that he, as the state president of the organisation since its inception, had been working to strengthen it by touring the entire state.

"We have fought for Hindus and will continue to do so. We will expand campaign for hindutva and development in the entire country. We are the original Hindu Yuva Vahini with the support of all core members and blessing of my guru Yogi Adityanathji," he said.

"It was I who raised a voice to declare Yogi Adityanath, a five time MP then, the chief ministerial candidate, but the BJP did not pay heed to it. In Parivartan Yatra, taken out by the BJP, there was no photograph of Yogiji.

"We had said that if he was not made the chief minister, we will protest against the BJP. We fought for the honour of our guruji," Singh said, adding, "We also demanded that devoted HYV activists should be given tickets to contest elections."

Asked about reports that his organisation was named Hindu Yuva Vahini (Bharat), he said, "It will be Hindu Yuva Vahini, and we will be working for it."

"We will strengthen the Hindu Yuva Vahini across the country in the days to come. First, on the list are Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. Our sole objective is to spread hindutva and nationalism in the country," Singh told PTI.

Emphasising that his organisation will take up issues of Hindus from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, he said that among other things, the HYV will ensure construction of temple in Ram Janmbhoomi and also take up similar issue for Krishna Janm Bhoomi (Mathura) and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi).

"We will also try to curb Jihadi and terrorist activities by countering those involved in this," Singh said.
