Actress Rebel Wilson confessed about intentionally gaining weight in order to become successful.

The 36-year-old actress said being overweight helped her in becoming famous as a comedy star, reported E! online.

"I saw my size as being an advantage, whereas so many women see it as a disadvantage. Bigger girls do better in comedy," Wilson said.

The "Pitch Perfect" star said she doesn't feel the need to lose weight in order to survive in the industry.

She recalled the time when she wrote a play and cast herself alongside a girl with a larger frame. "And I was like, 'Oh. That girl's getting a lot of laughs, a lot easier than me. What is it?' Because I don't think there's much difference in talent. And I remember distinctly thinking, 'I think it's because she's fatter,'" she said.

"'How can I get more laughs? Maybe if I was a bit fatter...' And then suddenly I was fatter, and doing comedy," she added.

The Australia native, best known as "Fat Amy", also admitted having a hormonal imbalance, which makes it easier for her to gain weight quickly.
