The student, identified as Aparna Mishra, was rebuked by teacher Brijbhushan Prasad for some reason during an examination in the private school.
Aparna then went to the roof of the four-storeyed building and committed suicide by jumping from there on the ground, the sources said.
Prasad and headmaster of the school P Dube were detained for questioning.
