Taking a serious note of alleged forced reconversion of about 100 people to Hinduism in Agra, Uttar Pradesh government has sent directives to respective district police chiefs to check recurrence of such incident.

The state's home department has taken a serious view of the reports of forced conversion in Agra, Home Secretary Kamal Saxena said today.

The Director General of Police is sending directives to all the SSPs and SPs to check any such incident from recurring anywhere in the state, IG (law and order) A Satish Ganesh said.

The respective district police heads have been asked to put their intelligence units on alert and take stringent action if any such incident takes place anywhere, the IG said.

The official said the home department has also taken note of some media reports that a similar conversion ceremony has been planned in Aligarh on December 25 for which the administration there is being asked to gather information and remain watchful.

Ganesh said that an FIR has been filed at the Sadar Bazar police station by one Ismail against Kishori Lal Balmiki for luring them with getting their BPL and Adhar cards made after which they were made to attend a ceremony on December 8.

Investigations are on in connection with the FIR and stern action would be taken against the accused if the charges are found to be true, the IG said, adding that, keeping the communal scene under control was the priority of the government and strong action would be taken against all those found damaging it.
