The policy will be finalised and implemented by the time the All India Police Athletics tournament takes place in Patna in March next year, Kumar said, after inaugurating the 61th All India B N Malik Memorial Police football tournament at the Moinul Haque stadium here.
Stating that a large number of sportspersons from the state were already in service in various departments, the chief minister said the existing policy for government jobs to sportspersons was fine tuned and a decision taken at a cabinet meeting yesterday.
Kumar said he would like more sports tournaments to provide an opportunity to sportspersons to excel.
He reiterated that his government was committed to build infrastructure to promote sports with the process beginning with the construction of a world-class sports complex at Kankerbagh in the state capital and other existing infrastructure like the Mithilesh Stadium.
The decision for renovating the Moinul Haque stadium here would be taken within a year, he added.
