Forest officials today seized red sandalwood logs, estimated at Rs three crore, from a container truck and nabbed its driver at Balapalli check post in the district.
"The truck container was intercepted at the checkpost. We found 150 red sanders logs inside it and seized them. They are estimated to worth Rs three crore," Balapalli Forest Range Officer Srinivas Reddy said, adding that driver of the truck had been taken into custody.
The officer said that around 30 workers from Vellore in Tamil Nadu, suspected to have felled the red sanders trees, were camping in the forest and might have fled.
The exact weight of the seized logs is being measured, Reddy added.
