Red-sanders worth Rs 3 crore seized, two 'smugglers' held

Over a hundred logs of red sanders wood worth around Rs three crore was today seized and two alleged smugglers were arrested near here, police said.

"105 red sander logs weighing about two tons and worth Rs 3 crore in international market were seized and two smugglers were arrested near Vageti Kona in Railway Kodur mandal of Kadapa district," Kadapa Superintendent of police Dr Naveen Gulati said.

During a combing operation in Railway Kodur mandal, police found a huge red sander dump, which was ready for transportation, he said.

"Though smugglers started pelting the policemen with stones, the special party members chased the gang and caught two persons," the SP added.
 

Efforts are on to catch hold of the members who escaped from the spot and further investigation into the case is on.
