YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy today staged a protest here and demanded compensation to the kin of eighteen people, who died due to viral fevers in Kothamajeru village in the district in June and July.

Speaking to a gathering during the protest at the Krishna collectorate here, Reddy said his party has demanded Rs five lakh as ex-gratia relief to the families of the 18 deceased but the government did not make any efforts.

Further alleging that the Andhra Pradesh government has failed to control viral fever, the Leader of Opposition in state Assembly said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was not taking interest for the poor people but was only interested for industrialists and bureaucrats.

YSR Congress Party MLAs - Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao, M Pratap Appa Rao, Uppuleti Kalpana, Rashananidhi and other party leaders were also present during the protest.
