In an emphatic show of courage and hope, some acid attack survivors took to the ramp today at a unique fashion show held in South Delhi.

The fashion show -- The Revival-- was organised by NGO 'Naarii' with noted plastic surgeon Dr Charu Sharma.

Hundreds of cases of acid attacks are reported every year from across the country.

According to a government reply in Lok Sabha in April 2015, 310 cases were registered across the country in 2014 and 208 people were arrested for their alleged involvement in acid these cases.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sharma highlighted the plight of the acid attack survivors saying they have suffered some outrageous atrocities without any fault of theirs.

"As all of us dash around our busy lives briskly, we fail to realise the plight of certain less fortunate fellow human beings," she said referring to the acid attack survivors.

"Most of them were leading a life exactly like ours till one ill-fated day when everything suddenly transformed into a living hell for them."

Sharma is director of this non-profitable charitable organisation.

"This fashion show will see some of these victims joining professional models sashaying down the ramp," she said.
