Smartphone manufacturing major Xiaomi today launched the 'Redmi 5A' in the city on the eve of the nationwide online sales.
The new smartphone, priced at Rs 4,999, comes with a metallic matte finish and has a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion, Xiaomi Regional Business Head South and East, Sunil Baby told reporters.
The 2GB +16GB storage variant would be offered for the first five million units and it would be available from 12 noon tomorrow across Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home stores, followed by offline retailers, including Mi preferred Partners in the subsequent weeks, he said.
Sunil claimed that Xiamoi has become the fastest growing smartphone brand in India with a growth rate of nearly 300 per cent Year on Year,with a 23.5 per cent market share and having shipped 9.2 million smartphones in the third quarter of this year.
