Thirty woodcutters and their supervisor, all hailing from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, were today taken into custody and redsander logs worth around Rs 34 lakh recovered from them in Settigunta in Kadapa district, police said.
"Based on a tip-off, raids were conducted at Settigunta in Kadapa and 31 woodcutters were detained and 34 logs of redsanders wood kept in two vehicles, were seized," Railway Kodur circle Inspector Sheikh Rasool said.
These woodcutters belonged to Vellore district of Tamil Nadu and 34 logs of wood worth around Rs 34 lakh, collectively weighed one tonne, he added.

The woodcutters were working on the instructions of Elangovan, who has also been taken into custody, he said.
