Refined soya oil prices were up by 0.40 per cent to Rs 621.70 per 10 kg in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions following upsurge in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 2.45, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 621.70 per 10 kg, with an open interest of 59,710 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in April edged higher by Rs 1.65, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 634.50 per 10 kg in 22,760 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by traders on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly led to the rise in refined soya oil prices at futures trade.
