Aiming to popularise scientific thinking among the youth, a two-day science and technology meet began at a city college here on Tuesday.
The primary objective of the 3rd Regional Science and Technology Congress is to provide a forum for dissemination of information on scientific research, especially among young scientists, a state minister told reporters.
The meet was organised by West Bengal's Department of Science and Technology, and Biotechnology, at the Bidhannagar College campus.
Another basic objective of the science meet is to synergise new ideas with societal needs, Science, Technology and Biotechnology Minister Bratya Basu said.
The number of abstracts received across 12 broad disciplines were 676 with 504 of them chosen for the technical session, the organisers said.
