Registration must for IVF centres, MRI machines: Haryana govt

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) centres and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines would now be required to obtain registration in Haryana under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act, the state government said today.
So far, only ultrasound machines and centres were required to register themselves but as IVF centres carry out artificial fertilisation, directions have been issued to them to register themselves with the government, Health Minister Rao Narender Singh said.
The state government is taking concerted measures to ensure women empowerment and effective implementation of the PNDT Act, he added.
Singh further said it was the result of state government schemes and programmes that the sex ratio in Haryana had increased to 850 females per 1,000 males as against 830 females per 1,000 males reported in Census 2011.
