Metropolitan Magistrate Ekta Gauba issued a notice to the Secretary, Department of Women and Child development, for its failure to appoint special educator for Pinki who was found on the streets of east Delhi and sent to Nari Niketan by a trial court in 2000.
The court had on December 13, 2011 asked the Ministry of Social Justice, Department of Women and Child Development, Social Welfare Department and Delhi Commission for Women to rehabilitate her and provide her basic and special education.
Following that order, the department submitted a report informing the court that a special educator will be engaged for her.
"This shows that the order dated December 13, 2011 has not been complied with by the Deptt of Women and Child Development for appointing a special educator of Pinki when already seven months have elapsed from the date of the order.
"Notice be issued to the Secretary, Deptt of Women and Child Development, to appear in person on October 1 and to explain why the order dated december 13, 2011 for apointing a special educator for Pinki and sending the special educator to Bapnu Ghar has not been complied with," the court said.
The court also issued a notice to Secretary, Social Welfare Department of Delhi government to appear in person on the next date of hearing to explain the failure to appoint a special educator for Pinki.
