This emerged during a state-level discussion on the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) at the Assam Administrative College here.
BJP Lok Sabha MP Bijoya Chakravarty said that during the current 15th Lok Sabha funds related to various developmental schemes had at times not been released on time.
Her view was supported by other MPs including Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, Biswajit Daimary and Ramen Deka.
The MPs urged the state government to immediately release the funds sent by the Centre under the MPLADS.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of state Additional Chief Secretary P P Varma and attended by other senior officials.
During the meeting, officials from various districts cited problems faced by them in releasing funds earmarkes for MPLADS.
Assam Planning & Development Department Principal Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna directed all officials to ensure speedy release of MPLADS funds and also to see that projects taken up under it are completed on time.
