Among other towns in Punjab where mercury hovered between 43-45 deg C included Jalandhar, Moga, Gurdaspur and Ferozepur.
Chandigarh, too, recorded a hot day at 42.3 deg C, up three notches.
In Haryana, Gurgaon had a hot day at 44 deg C while Ambala's maximum settled at 43.4 deg C, up three degrees.
Hisar baked at 44 deg C while Rohtak, too, sizzled at 43.6 deg C, with both maximums up by three and two notches, respectively.
The MeT has forecast no relief from the scorching conditions in the region until tomorrow.
