Ludhiana sizzled at 44 deg C, up three notches, the MeT said here.
Patiala registered a high of 43.6 deg C, up three degrees.
Among other towns in Punjab where mercury hovered between 43-45 deg C included Jalandhar, Moga, Gurdaspur and Ferozepur.
Chandigarh, too, recorded a hot day at 42.3 deg C, up three notches.

Hisar baked at 44 deg C while Rohtak, too, sizzled at 43.6 deg C, with both maximums up by three and two notches, respectively.
The MeT has forecast no relief from the scorching conditions in the region until tomorrow.
