Relief camp in Rishikesh for Gujarati pilgrims in Uttarakhand

Gujarat government has set up a relief camp in Rishikesh in Uttarakhand for pilgrims from the state who are stranded there.

The camp has been established at Shantikunj ashram of Gayatri pariwar in Rishikesh, an official statement said.

To help the Gujaratis stranded in the flood-ravaged state, the state government has sent a five-member team headed by the Relief Commissioner P K Parmar.

So far, 21 Gujarati pilgrims in Uttarkashi and four in Kedarnath have arrived in the relief camp, the officials said.

Thousands of other pilgrims are expected to reach Haridwar tommorow morning after re-establishment of road link.

Arrangements have been made to airlift 56 Gujarati pilgrims from Bhavnagar, stranded near Jamunotri, Uttar Kashi.
