Relief from heat wave in Punjab, Haryana after light rains

Temperatures in Punjab and Haryana dropped following rains in parts of the neighbouring states giving a respite to people from heat.

Union Territory Chandigarh had overcast weather conditions during the day. The maximum temperature here settled at 31.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, a MeT report said.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 33.4 degree Celsius, down two notches after light showers.

Ludhiana, which received 8 mm of rain during the day, recorded a maximum of 32.3 degree Celsius, down two degrees.

Patiala's low settled at 33 degrees Celsius.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 31.8 degree Celsius, below two notches after light showers, while Karnal recorded a high of 32 degree Celsius.
 

Hisar experienced a hot day at 38.6 degree Celsius, but the maximum was less by four notches since yesterday.

The weather department has forecast light to moderate rains or thunder showers at a few places in the two states over the next three days.
