Kirori Lal Meena today appealed to the Rajasthan government to end the "confusion" over the surnames 'Mina' and 'Meena', which he claimed are of the same community, and immediately "clarify" the issue to the Centre.
He asked the state government to immediately write a letter to the Centre clarifying that Mina and Meena surnames are of the same community.
Addressing a massive rally in densely populated Mansarover area in the city, the National People's Party MLA also demanded the state government to get the reservation to the caste included in the ninth schedule of the Constitution.

Meena further asked the state government to withdraw its two earlier circulars issued by the social justice and empowerment department dated September 30, 2014 and December 23, 2014.
In the first circular, the government directed district collectors not to issue Mina caste certificate to Meena and in the second circular ordered not to change Meena to Mina and issue the caste certificates as it was being issued earlier.
"The union tribal ministry has been asking clarification on Mina and Meena, so the state government should immediately send a letter stating both are same," Meena said while addressing the 'Meena Aakrosh' rally.
The former BJP leader warned the government that if no action is taken on the demands, then he would start 'move to Jaipur from Dausa'.
He said that in support to the demands, a Mahapanchayat will be organised in Karauli on November 1.
Meena lashed out at the state government on the issue of corruption and demanded to empower Lokayukt on the pattern of Uttarakhand government; to implement ban on liquor on Gujarat pattern and to stop issuing ST caste certificates to Dhanak, Dhankia, Dhanuk and Dhanka caste, as "these are scheduled castes".
The Rajasthan High Court had issued a notice to the state government in February 2014 seeking clarification on reservation being given to people with Meena/Mina surnames, since a Centre government reply had stated that only 'Meena' were belonged to the ST category.
