Renowned writer Panoor passes away

Renowned writer K Kunjiraman Panoor, whose pen name is K Panoor, passed away today following old age illness.

The 84-year-old writer, also a social activist, was under treatment for ailments at a private hospital here and he died today, family sources said.

Panoor, a recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, is the author of the work Keralathile Africa, Keralathile America and 'Ha, Naxalbari'.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and State Minister for Culture A K Balan were among those condole the death of the writer.

Vijayan said in a message that Panoor who was an officer at the State Revenue Department worked for the uplifitment of tribals.
 

"He will be always remembered as a servant of tribals", the Chief Minister said.
