Claiming that the strike was an "unprecedented success", Chakraborty said, "The people of this state have given a befitting reply to the chief minister." He also threatened that trade unions will take legal action against Chief Secretary Sanjoy Mitra for issuing a circular "distorting" the court's statement. "They are distorting the court's version. The state government is issuing circulars and spreading false propaganda. It is contempt of court. We will take legal action against the chief secretary," he said. On Banerjee's threat to take administrative action against shopkeepers keeping their shops closed during the strike, he said, "They don't have the right to do that. They are talking about cancelling licenses. I doubt whether the people of Bengal will renew their (Trinamool Congress government) license to govern after three years."
